Sports Performance Anxiety Therapy

Crushing it in practice but freezing in competition?

Peyton Sutton, LPC specializes in sports performance anxiety therapy — helping athletes overcome perfectionism, mental blocks, and competition nerves so you can perform at your best when it matters most.

What Sports Performance Anxiety Looks Like

  • Managing performance anxiety, pre-competition stress, perfectionism, and fear of failure in athletics and high-pressure environments

  • Navigating burnout, anxiety, depression, imposter syndrome, and the emotional toll of constantly performing at a high level

  • Struggling with mental blocks, injury recovery, team conflict, racial stress in sports, and difficult team or social dynamics

  • Feeling emotionally drained from always trying to “keep it together”

How Sport Performance Therapy Supports Athletes

  • Develop practical tools to manage performance anxiety, competition nerves, and high-pressure moments so you can compete with greater confidence and focus.

  • Challenge perfectionism, self-criticism, and fear of failure while building a healthier mindset rooted in growth and resilience.

  • Strengthen your mental game through evidence-based approaches such as mindfulness, visualization, values-based work, and performance routines.

  • Explore the deeper factors affecting performance—including identity, burnout, injury recovery, racial stress, life transitions, and confidence beyond sports.
