Everything You Need to Know About Our Affordable Therapy Program
-
Our Affordable Therapy Program is a great option for individuals, teens, couples, and families looking for quality mental health care at a reduced cost. Whether you're paying out of pocket, have a high insurance deductible, are a college student, or simply need a more affordable option, this program was created to make therapy more accessible without compromising the quality of care.
-
Our reduced-fee sessions are provided by carefully selected master's-level counseling interns who are completing their graduate clinical training. While they are still in training, they are not practicing independently.
Every intern receives ongoing supervision, consultation, and mentorship from experienced licensed therapists to ensure clients receive ethical, compassionate, and evidence-based care. This model allows us to offer therapy at a significantly lower cost while maintaining the high standards of care that define Intentional Therapy.
-
A counseling intern is a graduate student in an accredited master's counseling program completing the final stage of their clinical education.
By the time interns begin seeing clients, they have completed extensive coursework in counseling theories, ethics, multicultural counseling, assessment, and evidence-based treatment approaches. Clinical internships allow them to apply those skills in real-life settings while receiving close supervision from licensed professionals.
-
Yes.
Every counseling intern at Intentional Therapy works under the supervision of experienced licensed clinicians. Supervision includes regular case consultation, ongoing training, and guidance to ensure every client receives thoughtful, ethical, and high-quality care.
Supervision is one of the reasons internship experiences are considered such an important part of therapist training.
-
For many concerns, yes.
Research has consistently shown that one of the strongest predictors of successful therapy isn't how many years a therapist has practiced—it's the quality of the therapeutic relationship, evidence-based care, and regular clinical supervision.
Our interns are carefully selected, receive ongoing training, and work closely with licensed supervisors to provide compassionate, effective support.
-
Our counseling interns work with many common concerns, including:
Anxiety and chronic stress
Depression and low mood
Burnout
Life transitions
Relationship challenges
Self-esteem
Identity exploration
Family conflict
School and college stress
Grief and loss
If your needs fall outside an intern's scope of practice, we'll help connect you with one of our licensed clinicians.
-
Our Affordable Therapy Program offers sessions at a reduced rate compared to our licensed therapists, making ongoing therapy more financially accessible.
Current session fees: $50-$80.
-
Absolutely.
Some clients begin with one of our counseling interns and later transition to a licensed therapist as their needs change or as intern placements come to an end. If a transition makes sense, we'll work with you to make it as smooth as possible.
-
Yes.
Your privacy is important to us. Counseling interns follow the same confidentiality laws and ethical standards as licensed therapists.
Because interns receive supervision, they may discuss your care with their licensed supervisor as part of providing the highest quality treatment. These conversations remain confidential and are focused solely on supporting your care.
-
Our Affordable Therapy Program is offered as a private-pay service and is not billed through insurance.
Many clients choose this option because the reduced session fee can be comparable to—or even lower than—their insurance copay or deductible, while also offering greater privacy and flexibility.
-
During your consultation, we'll learn more about what you're looking for and recommend the therapist who best fits your goals.
If we believe you'd benefit more from working with one of our licensed clinicians, we'll tell you. Our priority is making sure you're matched with the level of support that best meets your needs.
-
Getting started is simple.
Schedule a free consultation, and we'll learn more about what you're looking for, answer your questions, and help determine whether our Affordable Therapy Program is the right fit. From there, we'll match you with an intern therapist who aligns with your goals, schedule, and preferences.
