My Therapeutic Style & Approach
Culturally-Informed EMDR Therapy for Asian Americans & High-Achieving Young Adults in Houston
You don't have to face anxiety, low self-esteem, or intergenerational trauma alone. Therapy can help you find relief and growth at your own pace.
In therapy with me, you'll discover a calm, compassionate, and judgment-free space where your feelings are valid, and you don't need to hide your pain or pretend to be okay.
I specialize in counseling Asian American young adults, BIPOC clients, and high-achieving teens and adults struggling with anxiety, self-worth issues, and the lasting effects of intergenerational trauma. We'll explore your unique story and work toward building clarity, confidence, and emotional healing.
"Therapy with me is about reconnecting with your authentic self, not changing who you are, and helping you leave sessions feeling lighter, grounded, and empowered with self-compassion and confidence."
You Don't Have to Explain Your Culture
As a bilingual therapist fluent in conversational Cantonese, I understand what it's like to navigate between two worlds. You won't have to explain why your parents are the way they are, why you feel guilty for wanting different things, or why family expectations feel suffocating.
I get it—because I've lived it.
In our sessions, you can finally drop the mask. No more code-switching. No more pretending to be okay. Just honest, judgment-free space to process, heal, and figure out who you are beyond what everyone expects you to be.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). These tools help you break negative patterns, manage overwhelming emotions, and develop resilience for life's challenges.
Healing isn't about fixing you—because you're not broken. It's about processing the wounds you've been carrying and reconnecting with the person you are beneath the expectations, trauma, and anxiety.

Common Questions About Working With Me
Why can't you take my insurance?
As an LPC-Associate under supervision, I'm unable to accept insurance directly at this practice location. However, I provide superbills (detailed receipts) that you can submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement—many clients get 50-80% back.
Good news: Private pay often costs less than insurance when you factor in deductibles and copays. Plus, you can start immediately (no pre-authorization wait), there's no diagnosis required on your permanent record, and sessions are HSA/FSA eligible for 20-30% tax savings.
What are your rates?
Individual Sessions: $90-130 per 50-60 minute session
EMDR Intensives: $600 (1-day), $1,200 (2-day), $1,800 (3-day)
I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots for those experiencing financial hardship. Please ask during your consultation if you'd like to discuss this option.
Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?
Currently, I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant virtual sessions to anyone located in Texas during their appointment. Research shows virtual therapy is just as effective as in-person.
In-person sessions will be available in Houston/Katy starting in 2026. I'll update my availability once the location opens.
How do I know if we're a good fit?
That's what the free 15-minute consultation is for! We'll chat about what you're looking for, what brings you to therapy, and whether my approach aligns with your needs.
You're a good fit if:
• You're open to doing the work (therapy requires active participation)
• You want a culturally-informed therapist who gets it
• You're ready to prioritize your healing
• You value evidence-based approaches like EMDR
It's okay if you're not sure—let's talk and see!
How quickly can I get started?
Usually within 3-5 business days.
Here's the typical timeline:
1. Book your free consultation (usually scheduled within 2-3 days)
2. If we're a good fit, schedule your first session (often same week)
3. Start therapy!
For EMDR Intensives, plan for 2-3 weeks from consultation to intensive date to allow proper preparation.
What if EMDR doesn't work for me?
EMDR has a strong evidence base—studies show 84-90% of single-trauma survivors no longer meet PTSD criteria after just 3 sessions.
That said, not every therapy works for everyone. If EMDR isn't the right fit after a few sessions, I'm trained in multiple modalities (CBT, DBT, Gottman Method) and will adjust your treatment plan accordingly. Your free consultation helps us assess if EMDR is appropriate for your specific situation.
Ready to Start Your Healing Journey?
You don't have to keep carrying this weight alone. Let's work together to help you reconnect with your authentic self, heal from trauma, and build the life you deserve.
