Virtual Therapy for South Asian & East Asian Family Dynamics in Texas

Are you struggling to balance your personal needs with complex cultural family expectations?

At Intentional Therapy, we understand that South Asian and East Asian family dynamics often carry complex, intergenerational cultural expectations. Our virtual therapy services in Texas provide a supportive space to honor your heritage while learning to set healthy boundaries. You don’t have to navigate these challenges alone—therapy can empower you to stay rooted in your identity while prioritizing your emotional well-being.

Do you find yourself thinking…
“I carry the weight of my family's expectations, even though they don't fit who I am.”
“I'm struggling with patterns of fear, shame, or self-doubt that I don't understand.”
“It feels like I can't fully step into my life because of unspoken family rules or norms.”
“I feel disconnected from my own identity because I’ve been focused on pleasing my family.”
“There's a gap between me and my parents; we see the world so differently, and it causes pain.”
Our Non-Traditional Approach to Culturally Responsive Therapy

We recognize that the BIPOC experience—especially within South and East Asian families—is layered, nuanced, and often misunderstood. That’s why we take a non-traditional, culturally responsive approach to therapy.

At Intentional Therapy, you’ll work with someone who understands the intersection of family expectations, identity, generational trauma, and cultural shame—without needing to explain every detail. We already “get it.”

Our style is relational, gentle, and client-paced. We help you explore the ways culture has shaped your story while building emotional tools to help you live more fully.

You'll reconnect with your inherited strengths, learn how to set realistic boundaries, and begin to rewrite patterns passed down through generations. We honor where you’ve come from—but we focus on where you’re going.

Our Team
At Intentional Therapy PLLC, we specialize in providing culturally-attuned, non-traditional therapy for BIPOC individuals, particularly those from South and East Asian backgrounds. Founded in March 2021 by Parthi B. Patel, a first-generation South Asian American, our practice understands the unique challenges faced by first- and second-generation individuals, such as bi-cultural identity struggles and intergenerational trauma.

"We’ve created a space where you don’t have to explain your culture—our therapists ‘just get it,’ because we’ve lived it."

We have since expanded our practice to include other mental health professionals. Each of our therapists has unique areas of specialization and expertise, allowing us to collaborate and provide a range of care to individuals, couples, families, and organizations.
